Zonnatura awarded as most sustainable brand


Dutch consumers voted: Zonnatura is the most sustainable brand 

Zonnatura is the most sustainable brand in the category food & beverage. This is the result of the first Dutch Sustainable Brand Index 2017. After successful years of Sustainable Brand Index in Sweden and the rest of The Nordics, the largest brand study focusing on sustainability was conducted in the Netherlands for the first time.

Based on consumer interviews, the study maps out and analyzes the areas of sustainability, branding and communication from the consumer perspective. Dutch consumers, 16 years and older, participated. The selection corresponds to the demographics of that country. It is a nationally representative sample of each country. 

The Basis of the Evaluation is the UN Global Compact’s 10 principals about environmental and social responsibility. This is supplemented with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and also a so-called external definition focusing on the consumers’ perception of sustainability - their expectations and demands on companies today.

The award was handed out in five categories - winners are: GreenChoice (energy), IKEA (retail), Albert Hijn (supermarket), Triodos Bank (bank).
